ten years ago...
... 1.) i was 8
... 2.) i had dreads


... 3.) i had a brand new baby sister


... 4.) i stopped modeling


... 5.) i wanted to be an astronaut


... 6.) i lived in paterson, nj


... 7.) i loved Michael Jackson


ten years later...
... 1.) i'm 18 years old


... 2.) i no longer have dreads.

i kinda got this curly afro blowout shindig goin on. (&sometimes i curl her!)

... 3.) my once baby sister is now my size (11 & trying to wear EVERYTHING i own)


... 4.) i modeled ONCE since i stopped


... 5.) i want to save the public school system all alone (this consists of being a teacher - English, musical theater, journalism, the sha-bang - & then being the system; i have my ways don't you fret)


... 6.) i live in NYC... well, i go to school there.


... 7.) i still love Michael Jackson

there are just a few of the obvious things that have changed over the past 10 years. i've gone through things that adults probably never experienced, i'm smarter, i've mature, my caring for others has definitely increased!, and i'd like to think that i was an overall better person.

ok so i'm a lil slow. i thought the Michael that i wanted to marry was in the 90's. watching the video Whatzupwitu (eddie murphy ft. Michael) & saw that the vid was made in '92 (i was 1) & it wasn't Michael that i wanted to marry...

style: KINGS (& princes) OF SHOULDER PADS!

my BRAIN TWIN can understand this one, fully...

not that rihanna, goooo-gooooo gaaa-gaaa, & king beyonce don't look FABULOUS in their shoulder pads... it started with 2 men -- ya know, MICHAEL JACKSON & PRINCE:) - i love giving them credit for almost everything, but they deserve it:)

this was back in the late 70's early 80's? anyway, he did it then (& did it now) & killed it always..

then in THIS IS IT, the world was exposed to the penguin dance, doing things with L.O.V.E., love, and most importantly the pointy shoulder pads (yes before ri-ri & ga-ga)
(couldn't find the pic, just watch the vid & enjoy)

this is a shot from the greatest/worst movie of all time, Purple Rain. anyways, 5 words -- ruffles, rinestones, and shoulder pads. where does one go wrong?

a friend of mine unknowingly put me on to the GREATNESS of robert glasper. i heard the intro to this song and was like "ooooooOO snap this is gonna be GOOD" (thinking that vocals were following). to my surprise there wasn't, and i think i like it better that way. take a look see (or a listen hear.. *laughter?*)

not that i'm not thankful for everything i have everyday. but i thought i should just take time to PUBLICLY acknowledge it.. so here it goes.

i thank GOD for everything i posses. if it wasn't for HIM, i'd be a lost one (like many people my age are).

i'm thankful for my ENTIRE family; they are the most encouraging, supporting, loving group of people i know.

-mommy; you are the artsiest, coolest, greatest mom that i know. i'm thankful for our relationship. & though we may not always see eye to eye on everything, i know that no matter what you have my back & TRUST me i have yours:)

-g-ma; you are actually the GREATEST grandmother on the face of the EARTH. i am thankful for our 1 am chit chats & for everything i've learned from you. you are the most caring person i have ever met & i'm SOO GREATFUL to have you for a g-ma.

-auntie; i'm thankfu that i get to have an aunt that i can just be silly with whenever i want to. we've always been close and i'm thankful for that. i am TRULY proud to be your mini me:)

-auntie clarinda; i'm thankful for you being momma#2 in my life (all of my life). we haven't been really close all of my life, but i'm glad we're getting that opportunity now. i'm thankful for EVERYTHING you've ever done for me. (and thank you for giving me KAI) :)

-tiya; lil' big sis, i'm thankful for being the person in my life that i can tell all of my recent (and not so recent) obsessions to. even though i know 99.99% of the time you don't wanna listen, you do and i'm thankful for that. we bump heads here and there, but thats what sisters do, right? :)

-thomas; i never got to write in your yearbook tru.. so, i guess i can say a lil' of what i wanted to say here. not many friends have the ability to tell you things about yourself (good, bad or indifferent) with a sincere heart. you did & i'm thankful for that. you're my TRU fo'lifee


-chelly; my bear, we didn't really talk that much before my senior year, but i'm glad i got to know you before i graduated. i love you like you are my blood sister. i'm thankful for having you in my life & i'll always be here for you no mattter what :)
